Pixelcade DMD Setup Guide for Arcade-One on Windows 7

Note: This only applies to Pixelcade LED and DOES NOT apply to Pixelcade LCD.

Step 1: Plug Pixelcade into your PC using the included USB A-A cable. Pixelcade will show up in device manager as an unrecognized device called “IOIO”. Download the windows 7 driver for Pixelcade here and unzip somewhere on your hard drive. From device manager, right click “IOIO” and browse to this location to install the driver.

Step 2: Install Pixelcade Software (Arcade Marquee Mode)

IMPORTANT: You must install under: D:\Arcade\Pixelcade

Step 3: Install Pixelcade Pinball for Visual Pinball with HyperSpin and then follow the configuration steps below.

Windows 7 Arcade-One Image with Updated VPX

Note that Pinball FX2 and FX3 in your HyperSpin image will not work with Pixelcade. Only the Steam version of Pinball FX3 will work with Pixelcade.

Install to: D:\Arcade\Emulators\Visual Pinball 2\vpinmame

This will be the default

Install to: D:\Arcade\Emulators\Visual Pinball 2

It will NOT default so be sure and enter this correctly and do not install under D:\Arcade\Emulators\Visual Pinball 2\Visual Pinball for example

Check “DMDext support”
You may be prompted to install DirectX
You’ll be prompted to install the .NET framework if you don’t already have it
Select “Yes” if you have a second monitor for the backglass

From your VPinMAME directory, run “setup.exe”

Choose “Install”

 

From your VPinMAME directory, run “setup.exe”

Choose “Setup Defaults…”

Click “OK”

  • Check “Use external DMD (dll)”
  • Check ‘Colorize DMD (4 colors)’ 

Now launch HyperSpin and then go to Visual Pinball and launch a table.

The pinball table should launch and the Pixelcade DMD should be displaying game specific frames.

When you exit out of Visual Pinball and back to HyperSpin, Pixelcade should automatically switch back to Arcade marquee mode.
