Pixelcade DMD Setup Guide for Arcade-One on Windows 10

Note: This installer will only work on an Arcade-One image (8 TB or 16 TB) and only applies to Pixelcade LED marquees.

Step 1: Plug Pixelcade LED into your PC using the included USB A-A cable. Pixelcade will show up in device manager as a “USB Serial Device” under Ports.

Step 2: Install the Pixelcade Main Software

IMPORTANT: You must install the Pixelcade software in D:\Arcade\Pixelcade

Step 3: Install the Pixelcade DMD add-on for Arcade-One

IMPORTANT: You must install the Pixelcade DMD add-on in D:\Arcade\Emulators\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME

Step 4: Follow the manual steps below to complete the installation.

Run D:\Arcade\Emulators\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME\setup.exe

and

Choose “Install”

From your VPinMAME directory, run “setup.exe”

Choose “Setup Defaults…”

Click “OK”

  • Check “Use external DMD (dll)”
  • Check ‘Colorize DMD (4 colors)’
Note if you are playing a VPX table and not seeing a table in DMD full color (note that only certain VPX tables have a full color DMD function), press F1 while playing the table and ensure the “Colorize DMD (4 colors)” box is checked and then F3 to reload the table.
Pinball FX3

If the DMD is not working in Pinball FX3 (this may be the case if you have the Arcade-One 8 TB image) or if the selected Pinball FX3 table is not loading directly, then you’ll need to get the latest Arcade-One FX3 update and install.

Pinball FX2

Manually launch Pinball FX2 outside of HyperSpin

D:\Arcade\Games\Pinball FX2\Pinball FX2.exe

Click on “Cabinet Support”

Enter “On” for Dot matrix repositioning

Enter “0” for Dot matrix horizontal position

Enter “0” for Dot matrix vertical position

Enter “520” for Dot matrix horizontal size

Enter “136” for Dot matrix vertical size

Note that this change will remove the onscreen DMD screen and you’ll only get the Pixelcade external DMD going forward.

Now launch HyperSpin and then go to Visual Pinball, Pinball FX2, Pinball FX3, Pinball Arcade, or Future Pinball and launch a table.

The pinball table should launch and the Pixelcade DMD should be displaying game specific frames.

When you exit out of one of the pinball emulators, Pixelcade will automatically switch back to arcade marquee mode and change as you scroll through the HyperSpin wheel.
